How to use and understand Google analytics
Google Analytics is a free
analysis solution to measure the audience, the number of clicks, the origin of users,
and the navigation of visitors to the site. It is also possible to define conversion
objectives.
- Number of sales
- The number of completed forms
- The number of document downloads
- The number of clicks on a button or link
- Playing a video
- The number of lead via an affiliate
You will be able to detect and be
warned of malfunctions (dead links, loss of traffic, etc.).
Google Analytics is a
quantitative and non-qualitative tool. Indeed, the tool does not tell you why
users came and if they found the information about their needs.
You will be able to analyze their
behavior, measure the returns of the actions undertaken and make useful
interpretations.
Google analytics, what to measure?
Google Analytics contains many
indicator possibilities that will help you optimize your marketing strategy.

Combinations of indicators
The combination of the different
indicators can be used to evaluate the achievement of the objectives set in the
marketing strategy. We can for example evaluate the notoriety of your
campaigns: measured audience of new users
Number of conversions: Set up

The conversion rate: number of conversions
/ number of visitors
The relevance of the content and
the user experience can be evaluated according to several Google Analytics
indicators:
- The bounce rate,
- The number of page views / visit
- Time spent / page
- Average length / visit
- The measure of loyalty (this is to evaluate if we managed to get visitors back)
- The rate of known visitors
Internet behavior

the reasons and correct
Average time coupled with the
Bounce Rate:
Time is low and the rate is high:
the visitor was wrong -> work the relevance of the keywords
Time is low and Rate is low: the
visitor looks for an information on the site and can not find it -> improve
the visibility of the keywords inside the pages
Time is high and Rate high: the
visitor takes the time, but is not encouraged to continue on the site ->
work highlighting other content and credibility of the site
Time High and Low: The visitor
appreciates the content and the site as a whole.
Outputs: This study makes it
possible to refine the study of the Bounce Rate: this measure indicates the
rate of the outputs on a given page.
If the Bounce Rate is high and
the exit rate is also a landing page and visitors leave the site: the page is
not the one sought, is prohibitive or barely displayed (in general the time
spent is low)
The bounce rate is high and the
exit rate is low, it is a landing page and also accessible from other pages of
the site: this page encourages continuing the surfing on the site (the average
time is the one corresponding to the reading of the content).
